Nuggets resume road trip in South Beach vs. Heat

Basketball Betting Lines

02/10/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The Northwest Division-leading Denver Nuggets hit a bump on their eight-game road trip and will try to steer back on the right path Tuesday evening against the Miami Heat at AmericanAirlines Arena.

Denver had a four-game winning streak stopped and fell to 2-1 on its current road swing after getting demolished by the New Jersey Nets, 114-70, on Saturday at the IZOD Center.

Nuggets superstar Carmelo Anthony was the only Denver player to finish in double figures with 15 points, while Chauncey Billups and Nene each had just nine in the loss. Denver will also visit Orlando, Philadelphia, Chicago and Milwaukee on the current swing, and is 14-11 away from the Rocky Mountains this season.

The Heat, meanwhile, won for just the second time in six tries with a 96-92 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Sunday in the opener of a short two-game homestand. Dwyane Wade scored 22 points and Mario Chalmers recorded his first career double-double with 16 points and a career-high 13 assists for Miami, which had lost two in a row and four of its last five games. Wade needed six stitches after getting elbowed in the eye by Charlotte's Juwan Howard.

Daequan Cook returned to the court following a three-game absence because of a bruised thigh and scored 16 points in a winning cause. Udonis Haslem ended with 14 points as the Heat shot a season-high 56 percent for the game.

Denver defeated Miami, 108-97, on January 7 this season at the Pepsi Center and has won seven straight matchups. The Nuggets are 11-2 over the previous 13 contests against the Heat, who have won nine of the last 13 games as the host in this series.

Stanley Cup betting

New York, NY – October 3, 2007 – The dress rehearsal is over! The NHL preseason has ended and now that fans have had a glimpse of what is to come it is time to hit the book! Stanley Cup odds are live at MySportsbook.com, the world’s largest online sportsbook and casino.

The Ottawa Senators and Detroit Red Wings remain on top of the odds charts after an impressive start in the preseason. Betting lines opened for both teams at 6-1 in June. Since then the Sens have fallen to 7-1 and the Red Wings are now caught in a pack including the defending champion Carolina Hurricanes, the San Jose Sharks and the Anaheim Ducks, all at 10-1.

MySportsbook.com has also posted props on each team’s point total for the regular season. The Senators lead the charge at 108.5 followed by the Ducks at 106.5. Detroit will attempt a repeat for the prize as the Red Wings are deadlocked with the Predators at 104.5 a piece. The temporary loss of highly touted rookie Evgeni Malkin puts a lot of pressure on the stick of assistant captain Sidney Crosby - his lowly Pittsburgh Penguins are listed at 71.5.

Even if bettors are not brave enough to put their money on the underdog, an early bet on the favorites at sportsbook.com tends to produce bigger payouts than a mid-season wager. Placing a $1,000 bet last summer on the Detroit Red Wings or Ottawa Senators would have paid out to $8,000 and $10,000 respectively, opposed to a $2,500 or $3,000 payout at the beginning of the playoffs.
